Fitness Goals

As one of the few members in my family who did not commit to running in secondary school, I found my interest peaked when I entered university. I have run in a myriad of 5k races ranging from the State College Run for Shelter to local 4k 4th of July race at my hometown, Downingtown. Ever since I took on this hobby I have wanted to push myself by accomplishing the pinnacle running challenge: completing a marathon. I will be the first in my family to do so.

I am registered to compete in the Shamrock Marathon at Virginia Beach, Virginia on Sunday March 18th, 2018. I am working with an extended version of a 6 month marathon training program (click on training programs to learn more), and would like to complete my first marathon in under 3 hours and 30 minutes. Based upon my performance I will work towards a sub 3 hours and 5 minute time in order to qualify for the Boston Marathon, one of the most renowned marathons in the world.

During this training I also incorporate multiple days of cross training to cycling and swimming in order to build other core muscles in my legs. I am interested in becoming a triathlete to compete in standard triathlons during the summer season.

While cardio constitutes a large part of my training, my roots are based out of my early experiences in strength training. Along with my rigorous running training, I incorporate a weekly split to build muscle and maintain a defined body. Balancing nutrition, fitness, and health has been a challenging and experimental process. However, the long term sense of accomplishment and progress inspires me to push myself to constantly do better.
